About me

Hello, I’m Asha, a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with over 10 years’ experience supporting children and adults with their mental health. I’ve worked across both NHS IAPT services and private settings, which has given me a broad and grounded understanding of what genuinely helps people create meaningful and lasting change.

My work is rooted in creating a safe space where you can feel truly understood and supported. While my core training is in CBT, I’m also qualified in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I integrate evidence-based approaches to suit your needs, preferences, and goals. Therapy with me is not about quick fixes, but about helping you understand yourself more deeply, develop practical tools, and move towards a life guided by your values rather than fear or self-criticism.

I treat a range of mental health concerns; however, I have extensive experience working with low self-esteem, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, trauma, and maternal health.

Low Self-Esteem (LSE)

Self-esteem refers to the overall  way a person views themselves. Healthy self-esteem involves holding a balanced perspective, recognising strengths and areas for growth. Those with low self-esteem often have a biased view of themselves, focusing on perceived weaknesses and having little belief in their abilities. Low self-esteem is often characterised by a critical inner voice, people-pleasing tendencies, comparing oneself to others, and sensitivity to rejection.

Low self-esteem can often develop as a result of adverse life experiences, particularly those occurring during childhood and adolescence. Traumatic events, body image concerns, and relationships with family members, peers, and teachers can all play a role in contributing to low self-esteem and reduced confidence.

Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD)

GAD is a common mental health condition characterised by excessive worry about a wide range of everyday situations. Those with GAD are likely to worry about the future and often jump to worst-case scenarios. Unlike other anxiety disorders that focus on specific concerns, such as health anxiety or social anxiety, people with GAD often worry about many different areas of their lives.

Excessive worrying can be time-consuming and can significantly impact personal relationships, productivity, and the ability to rest and enjoy the present moment.Treatment with me involves learning how to cope with anxiety-provoking situations through the use of evidence-based interventions.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

PTSD can develop after experiencing a traumatic incident in which you felt your safety was at risk, such as an assault, road traffic accident, or other serious injury.

Symptoms of PTSD may include intrusive memories or flashbacks of the incident, increased levels of day-to-day anxiety, avoidance of reminders of the trauma (including people or places associated with the incident), heightened vigilance of your surroundings, and an increased sense of fear. CBT for PTSD will help to process what happened, reduce the impact of trauma reminders, and develop a greater sense of safety in everyday life.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

OCD is an anxiety disorder that can be incredibly exhausting. It is characterised by two main features: obsessions and compulsions.

Obsessions are unwanted and intrusive thoughts, images, or urges. Common obsessions include fears of contamination, thoughts or urges about causing harm, blasphemous thoughts, a need for order and symmetry, and doubts about one’s memory. These can often trigger emotions such as anxiety, shame, and guilt.

Compulsions are behaviours performed in an attempt to reduce the distress caused by obsessions. If you are struggling with intrusive thoughts and find yourself engaging in behaviours such as checking, repeating mental phrases, or seeking reassurance, this is something I can support you with.

Maternal Health

I have a particular interest in supporting women with mental health difficulties linked to pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period, including anxiety, trauma, and changes in identity. My work is informed by an understanding of the unique biological, psychological, and social pressures associated with motherhood.
